Hot Walks on Mercury

Challenge Description:

For this challenge, players must get into pairs. (Once everyone is in pairs then we split the pairs in half to have our two “teams”) Each team will partake in a run around Krentzmen quad. Players must hold onto their teams "rope" and their own jug of water that weights 13lbs. The teams begin at opposite sides of an oval course. When the host says go, the teams would race to catch up to one another. Any team member may let go of the rope and drop out of the race, but they must pass their water to another player, who must carry the extra weight. The first team to catch up to the other tribe and tag them win this aspect of the challenge.

The winning team will get a chance to compete for individual immunity. Each player will have to solve a fire puzzle. The first player to solve the puzzle and put their hands up and yell “check” wins immunity.

Skills Learned:

3D Printing, Design Collaboration

Fire Puzzle

I collaborated with Julian Moody, the Tufts Survivor President, to get 5 "fire puzzles" for the individual aspect of this challenge. These "fire puzzles" are replicated from those seen on the CBS Survivor show.  The puzzles were designed on Onshape and 3D printed using Prusa printers.

Fire Puzzle Base

Once the fire puzzle was fabricated, I decided to make a fixture so that the puzzle could be solved vertically, rather than flat on the table. This emulates the CBS Survivor show and makes it a better experience for the players. After a few 3D printed iterations I finalized a design on SolidWorks that had an adequate tolerance, allowing for the fire puzzle to fit snugly within the fixture without damaging the puzzle.
